About me

Susan, a middle aged fat woman smiles with fall leaves behind her

Hi. I’m Susan (she/her), a cisgender, queer, fat, neurodivergent Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), offering virtual therapy to individuals aged 16 and older from my home on the unceded, unsurrendered territory of the Anishinaabe Algonquin Nation (aka Ottawa, Ontario). I hold a MA in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University (2024), and a BA in Psychology from Carleton University (2006).

My goal as a therapist is to co-create with you a space where you feel safe and welcome to show up fully as your beautiful. unique, authentic self. If you choose to work with me, we will work collaboratively to define your goals and what progress looks like for you.

My approach to therapy is relational and person-centred, rooted in the confidence that you are the expert in your own life. I do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy and as such, draw on a variety of approaches and techniques during our work together, tailoring each session to your unique needs and goals. I strive to be transparent and open about the therapeutic choices I make so you can remain empowered and informed throughout our work together.

Woven into my work are my values and principles of feminism, antiracism, harm reduction, social justice, fat liberation. When working together, I will also invite you to identify the values and principles that are important to you and bring them to sessions as you feel appropriate.
